מָצָא מִין אֶת מִינוֹ וְנֵיעוֹר.

The Gemara comments: Yes, it is possible that this is the ruling, for we can say that it has found its own type and been awakened. In other words, as the area within the entranceway is not a defined domain, it doesn’t have the status of an independent domain. Therefore, when it opens into a karmelit, to which it is similar, its status is negated, and it joins with the karmelit to form a single unit. However, when it opens into a public domain, it cannot join with it because it is not similar to a public domain, which has a totally different set of laws; and therefore it is considered part of the alleyway, and it is permitted to carry within it.

The Gemara here uses the concept of a similar kind causing a trigger in a novel way. Classically it is used in kashrus, having to do with reawakening taste.  But, here it is being used in more of a metaphysical reality, that is on some level the perception of similar kind causes a different response.

The mystics recognize the relationships of patterns in creation, as G-d’s wisdom that enacts a pattern, reverberates throughout the spheres.  Even mathematicians have noticed the reverberation of patterns, such as the Fibonacci sequence that inexplicably repeats in nature in a variety of ways.

While we cannot understand the why, we can understand the what.  Meaning, certains patterns repeat themselves in human nature as well, instilled by the Creator for unknown reasons. Love and Sleep are not necessary logical but very much necessary to human nature.  Thus we must respect emotional patterns, and larger patterns even when they do not seem logical. 

We can understand this idea of awakening a reaction within human emotions as well. For example, imagine you have a hard day at work and are humiliated by your boss.  When you come home, if one of your children or your spouse does something even moderately disrespectful you may react with disproportionate anger.  It is the same pattern that exists perceptually and perhaps fundamentally, similar processes or substances trigger and become more powerful when meeting similar processes or substances.

A Tornado, while a powerful force of nature, is far more dangerous when we ignore it and pretend it does not exist.  So too, with emotions, we cannot always control them but if respect them and understand their power we can cope ahead.  We can proactively anticipate what might trigger us and ask people to be more sensitive or find other forms of self care.

שפת אמת בהעלותך תרל״ג

ברש"י שתהי' שלהבת עולה מאלי' כי בכל דבר יש נקודה חיות מהשי"ת רק שהכל תלוי בעבודת האדם לעורר התלהבות להטות הכל להשי"ת. כי כפי רצון וחשק האדם מעורר רצון בכל הדברים שכפוים ת"י והם ברשותו. ובמד' בחצוצרות ירא ה' בני ומלך המליכהו עליך כו' מלוך על יצרך כו' שיהיו תוקעין לעניך כמלך כו'. כי בודאי כל עניני עוה"ז לכבודו ברא וכפי מה שהאדם מקבל עליו מלכות שמים כראוי כן כפיים הכל אליו. כי מלכות שמים חל ע"י לכל הנבראים. וכל נברא נמשך בטבעו אחר מי שיוכל להמשיכו לחול עליו מלכות שמים. וגם היצה"ר עצמו מבקש להיות נכנע בע"כ תחת הצדיק. ולזאת [*הי'] יכול מרע"ה להשתמש במלכות בעוה"ז כי הי' בטל

לגמרי להשי"ת. ולא הי' שום דבר נפרד אצלו. וז"ש ועם שונים אל תתערב. וכשאין שינוי אצל האדם ומתאחדים אצלו תחתונים ועליונים כי הכל לכבודו ברא ורק שלמטה אינו ניכר כבודו ית' בכל דבר והאדם צריך לברר מלכותו ית' בכל דבר בדרך אמת ואמונה. וכשהאדם עושה מעשה לשם שמים שכוונתו שיהי' נעשה כבוד שמים עי"ז מתעורר האמת כי מצא מין את מינו וניעור. וזהו בהעלותך כי כל דבר נק' נר שהוא כלי לאור הדולק בו שיש נקודה אש ואור בכל דבר והאדם יכול להעלותו במה שמכוון להיות עולה וכן בימי השבוע מכוונים נגד שבת קודש כמ"ש ששת ימים עשה כו' השמים כו' הארץ וביום השביעי שבת וינפש. פי' עליונים נק' שמים ותחתונים נק' ארץ ובשבת יש עלי' ואחדות בין שמים וארץ שנתברר שהכל אחד:
